Peter Katz VIEW PROFILE

Posted by Rona Delaney

Peter Katz 10/27/1955 - 6/22/2018

Peter embraced life and experienced it one day at a time. He lived a carefree life and never followed a roadmap. Every day was full of possibilities and he felt free to take whatever path he chose.

Peter was an avid traveler and is hopefully off enjoying some great new adventure. When he was younger he visited his Aunt, Uncle and cousins in Shreveport, LA. every summer, and after graduating high school he traveled across the country. He attended several Olympic Games, such as Australia, Canada, Atlanta, GA., and I believe Beijing. He visited England 20 times; that was a favorite locale. He traveled transatlantic twice on the QE2, including her final voyage. Peter flew on the Concorde twice and took numerous cruises, including the Caribbean, Hawaii, and South America. He told his best friend Gary Morgan that he had lived a good life.

Peter died peacefully on June 22, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

Pete Katz was my Nevis Rd./Selkirk Rd. neighbor, and Radnor kindergarten fellow alumnus.  'Thanks to the brother who wrote his posted lifestory.  I stopped in and met his dad around the 2013 reunion time, I think.  My old treehouse buddy, Alan Zins had told me his dad and Pete's dad were best friends.  That's why I stopped in to the Katz's to visit, and to check out Peter.  Mr. Katz and I chatted away in their living room while Pete stayed on his feet.  At one point, I asked Pete to join his dad and me, to set a spell.  Pete said he was caring for his mom.  He was frequently going back there, while Mr. Katz and I were blabbing away.  To hear of Pete Katz getting out and about like he apparenly did is fascinating news to me.  Thanks.  Pete had a mind of his own and, unlike me, minded it.  They have the steepest driveway in Maryland, you know.  Talk about treehouses!
